About

Hi — I'm glad you're here

Stephanie Snuffer, Licensed Therapist and Coach

Licensed Therapist & Coach

Mental Refinery Therapy & Coaching LLC  ·  Utah

I'm a licensed therapist and coach with a belief that most of us are doing the best we can with what we know. My work is helping you learn more — about yourself, your relationships, and the patterns that keep you stuck.

I've been a therapist for years, but I've also been a wife, a parent in a blended family, and someone who's had to do a lot of my own work along the way. That lived experience shapes how I show up for clients — grounded, direct, and genuinely invested in your progress.

My approach draws on evidence-based modalities including Gottman, IFS, Lifespan Integration, DBT, somatic work, and polyvagal theory. Therapy here feels like a real conversation, with real tools, aimed at real change.

What clients say
★★★★★
I came in feeling like I'd tried everything. Within a few sessions, I had language for what I was experiencing and actual tools to use. It didn't feel like therapy — it felt like finally being heard and then actually helped.

FAQs

Good questions

Do I have to be in crisis to start therapy?
Not at all. Many clients come in feeling "fine but stuck." You don't have to hit a wall to deserve support — and working on growth before things get hard is one of the most effective things you can do.
What's the difference between therapy and coaching?
Therapy is clinically focused and often addresses past experiences and mental health. Coaching is more forward-looking — goal-oriented and skills-based. I offer both, and we can figure out which fits your situation best.
What is Lifespan Integration and how does it work?
Lifespan Integration is a gentle, body-based therapy that helps your nervous system process and integrate past experiences without requiring you to re-tell or relive them in detail. It's particularly effective for trauma, anxiety, and early attachment wounds — many clients describe it as quietly transformative.
Do you take insurance?
I'm in-network with Select Health. PPO clients can receive a Superbill for potential reimbursement. I also accept credit cards, HSA, and FSA.
How long does therapy typically take?
It depends on what you're working on. Some clients see meaningful change in 8–12 sessions; others prefer longer-term support. We set goals together and revisit them regularly so you always know where things stand.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes — both in-person and virtual. Telehealth is available via a secure platform and works well for busy schedules or clients outside my immediate area.
What's the first session like?
The first session is about getting to know each other. I'll ask what brought you in, what you've tried before, and what you're hoping for. It's low-pressure — your job is just to show up and be honest.
